We have a question from a client:

I want to open a franchise. The prices are very high. Are there any low priced franchises worth looking at?

Getting a franchise license is expensive because those companies spend a lot of money and time developing and marketing their brands. The cost of licensing is typically relative to the size and prestige of the business you are joining. This means that if you want a less expensive franchise, you will need to look further down the food chain and settle for one of the less desirable brands.Acquiring a good license is an investment. You might be able to attract investors or partners to help you afford something a bit more expensive. Individuals are more willing to buy-in to the bigger names because those ventures tend to have a higher success rate due to brand recognition among the consumers driving higher sales. This is why people pay franchising fees rather than simply creating their own brands. You might be able to get into a relatively new brand at a low cost, and hope that it takes off, but there is no reliable way to predict success, and no guarantee that the fees will stay low if the brand is successful.
